Curatorial Manager
Time Commitment: Part-Time, ~10 hours/week,
Contract (renewable)
Compensation: $35 to $45 per hour depending on experience
Work Location: Hybrid (online and on-site, Vancouver-based)
Supervisor: Project Lead / Principal Curator
Aartplace is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Curatorial Manager to support the coordination of public art and curatorial projects. You’ll play a hands-on role in coordinating communications, scheduling, engagement activities, procurement, and artist selection processes. You’ll also conduct research into project contexts and relevant artists and artworks, helping to ground each project in its cultural and community setting.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on coordination, attention to detail, and meaningful collaboration. You’ll work closely with artists, architects, project managers, planners, and community partners on initiatives that shape public spaces and enhance well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate project schedules, communications, and logistics across
project phases.Prepare procurement and call-for-art materials; coordinate submissions.
Support engagement activities with partners, user groups, and community advisors.
Coordinate artist selection processes, including outreach, materials, and documentation.
Conduct research into project contexts and relevant artists/artworks.
Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting.
Qualifications
Minimum two years experience coordinating curatorial, public art, or cultural projects.
Education in Fine Arts, Art History, Curatorial Studies, Museum Studies, Architecture, Design, or related fields.
Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign required.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.
