The Aartplace team has been engaged to provide Public Art Consulting for the 2110 W5 – a 21-storey residential tower designed by Office of McFarlane Biggar Architects & Designers (omb), aiming to bring rental units and thoughtful neighbourhood retail to the growing Kitsilano neighbourhood in Vancouver. With a design the strives for simplicity, functionality, quality, durability and resilience, this public art project aims to provide a site-specific artwork reflecting the roots and transformation of the area and city.

Two potential locations for public art will be offered to artists (via open call): Site B, comprised of the ground area and blind wall on the north side of the building, east of the main entrance; and Site D being the ground area extending from the North-east corner. These sites have been selected, through in-depth discussions, based on their public visibility, accessibility, and their integration with the overall project design.

The public art vision for 2110 W5 echoes the building’s thoughtful, human-centered approach to architecture and public realm design. Grounded in sensitivity to the site’s physical and cultural context, its layered history, and the area’s anticipated evolution, this vision aims to offer tangible value to the everyday experience of this transforming neighbourhood—through art.
